Our First Note: Why Nou La Exists

Nou La.

We are present. We are rooted. We are rising.

This blog was born from a simple truth: though we live abroad, Haiti lives in us. In our stories, our challenges, our laughs, our questions, and our dreams—it echoes.

We created Nou La as a space for Haitian high schoolers around the world to connect. To reflect. To be heard.

It’s a place to say:

“I’ve been through that too.”

“Here’s what helped me.”

“Let’s build something better—together.”

We know the feeling of being between two worlds—foreign but familiar, distant yet deeply connected. We carry our grandparents’ strength, our parents’ hopes, and our own vision for a future where Haiti thrives.

This is not just a blog.

It’s a movement of young voices—full of heart, full of power.

A reminder that we are not lost in the diaspora—we are planted, growing, and reaching back with love.
